Chelsea Grin playing their slow, boring music in Shady Oaks Retirement Home where it can be appreciated. |
I recall one of my very first reader objections, if not my actual first, was in regards to my violation post about ear gauging. The antagonist in question couldn't have been a day over 15. He proudly displayed a pair of freshly plugged earlobes himself on his Facebook profile picture, to spite his parents and society, no less. It was safe to say that because of his chosen fashion statement, he wasn't too thrilled about reading somebody's opinion on the internet knocking it. Or so I assumed, anyway. He didn't so much take issue with the actual content of the post, as he did with my featured photograph of Brent Riggs from JFAC. Clearly, reading was still an issue for him.
Without recalling his egregious grammatical and spelling errors, he asked something along the lines of "Why are you talking about JFAC? They're not even metal, they're deathcore."
First and foremost, I still get a comment along these lines either on the blog or Facebook, at least a few times a week. It never fails. "But that isn't metal..." Oh really, no shit? What's the name of my website, you genetic mishap? I wish there was some sort of physical or mental excuse you had for being as stupid as you are, but that's the funny thing about stupid: You just are, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Second, I go back and forth with whether Job for a Cowboy are either the best deathcore band ever, (which is like the best smelling turd) or just an incredibly sub par death metal band. They sounded strictly deathcore in their indie Doom days, but after debuting on Metal Blade, they've been trying to go a bit more down the preferable death metal path. The genre debate regarding whether JFAC is currently a deathcore or death metal band continues to rage elsewhere on web forums and YouTube comment fights, so let's not bring it here. I'll simply end it with "they kinda suck" and move on.
I imagine full-sleeves can be quite a bargain when your arms are twizzlers. |
One of these things is not like the other things. One of these things just doesn't belong. |
"This is the most Brutalest thing ... your ever heard..."
Are you still awake after all that? Me neither. I'm also not responsible for damages to your monitor if any of the images from the above video caused you to punch your screen. Before this whole core music debacle saw the light of the mainstream, I would use the words "break" and "down" typically if I wanted to describe something to a really stupid person who wasn't properly understanding me. For instance, "Let me break it down for you why you're a crybaby butthurt retard for being a vegan". Obviously, people still have a very hard time understanding me, but just as an example: You're hardly "sticking it to capitalism" if you're buying "Dole" and "Chiquita" products, instead of "KFC" and "McDonalds", moron. You want to stick it to capitalism? Kill yourself. It's a win-win situation. You can't be a consumer if you're dead, and then the rest of us no longer have to deal with you. I digress...
So like it sounds, a "breakdown" is a song break where the music is completely dumbed down for the audience. It's like CliffsNotes for music. Let's explain that this is a heavy song with some super extra sick amounts of heavy you're supposed to be moshing to in layman's terms. Snore. A breakdown-powered mosh pit is frail and weak. How does anyone get themselves so pumped up over open-note monotony? Guitar solos will always trump breakdowns. Scribble out everything else and put this equation in your mathbooks:
If you listen to deathcore, True Metal Redemption requires of you to set all of your bright pink, lime green, and baby blue slim-fit graphic tees aflame. Are you currently wearing one? Tough. Have the nurses in the burn unit record all of your screaming and whining like a girl, so you can mix it into your next album when they hose down all the charred Japanese flower tattoos on your necrotic tissue. Then, you need to listen to the bands Death, Obituary, Amon Amarth, Deicide, Exhumed, Nile, and Autopsy to purge all of the fake, weak death from your system, and replace it with pure, raw, unbridled brutality.
Guitar Solos > Breakdowns.
Are there deathcore songs that have guitar solos? Sure, if you count 8 seconds of jumbled high-notes as a guitar solo. No thanks. I'll also admit there are true metal songs out there that don't have their own guitar solo. The boring ones.
Next on our list of things to berate about a dispensable genre such as deathcore, are its vocals. Sweet baby christ, my ears. Death metal is a vocal style that was built entirely on deep voices, or at the very least, the ability to make your voice sound deep. Low gutturals are the entire point. Your lisp-ridden, barely post-pubescent shriekery is nothing short of a disgrace. You don't cut it in the brutality department. You sound like the screaming, skinny emo nerd in the high school cafeteria who gets pushed too far by your bullies, thinking it will cause them to back off. But it only makes it worse, because your reaction was beyond hilarious, and they want to see if they can make you do it again.
Show me someone who thinks inhaled pig squealing sounds brutal, and I'll show an eligible candidate for a fist to the throat. Not to say that it doesn't happen in actual death metal bands (same for breakdowns), but even when it does, I could do without it, and its far and few between in bands I consider listenable. In metal vocals, it makes sense to roar or growl like a bear or a wild cat. These animals are fierce and powerful, much like the metal genre should be. But a pig? That thing is bacon with legs. You couldn't pick a more boring (albeit delicious) animal to mimic.
Deathcore in its very essence is Diet Death Metal. Death Metal Lite. I Can't Believe it's Not Death Metal. Why would you want to have fake, imitation tofu death metal when you can just enjoy the real thing?
Accept no imitations.
Pretty much agree with everything you said here minus the solo thing. You can have an awesome metal song with no solos, but you can't even have a metal song without awesome riffs.
ReplyDeleteWhat I can't get over with Deathcore is that if you ignore the shitty breakdowns, it's just totally bland and brainless Death Metal. Even then, proper Death Metal has vastly superior breakdowns which usually add some groove or doom to the song before a ridiculously awesome solo. I can't comprehend how people can say they prefer Deathcore and actually mean it.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the Chelsea Grin picture, you can see that none of them are pressing ANY frets. ha.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more with you.
ReplyDeleteDeathcore is one of the most horrific genres of music that I've ever listened to. It sickens me to think that these little scenester kids running around listening to it think they're br00t4l or whatever for listening to this.
If I see any of them that dare to set foot upon a real bands hallowed ground, I make it my sole duty to hunt them down and break them down.
From now on I will call it Tofu Death Metal.
ReplyDeleteOr I Can't Believe It's Not Deathmetal. That was priceless.
DeleteWhy did this need to be explained? :D
ReplyDelete"I'm also not responsible for damages to your monitor if any of the images from the above video caused you to punch your screen." - Should have said so before the video...
ReplyDeleteFor some reason deathcore reminds me somehow of the 90's rapcore or rap-metal combination... The very riffs have a feeling like they're saying "yo, I'm cool bitch! look at me!"
ReplyDeleteThey lack this mature brutality that death metal has.
...You're holding a wooden toy sword and claim its more dangerous than a Japaneese katana? c'mon..
Just say no to Deathcore.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud to be poseur free!
Hugs, not chugs.
I'm probably gonna catch hell for even admitting I like A LOT of Deathcore, but I see it through a jaded eye, pointing out its flaws. Yes, there are some bands I want nothing to do with, like Chelsea Meatspin, but I don't hate it, I just like its intensity. 97% of the merch and fans can go to hell, though.
ReplyDeleteSo true man, so true
ReplyDeleteI was afraid that maybe I listened to some "Deathcore" but I've never heard of any of the bands in that video and really haven't listened to any of the bands you've named other than videos you have posted on here. I do listen to Victory bands. Within The Ruins, Wretched, Between the Buried and Me, Madball, Reach The Sky, With Honor, Streetlight Manifesto, and River City Rebels. If any of those are Deathcore, let me know. If not, then I guess I'm still safe until you write about how ska isn't metal.
ReplyDeleteWithin the Ruins, Wretched, With Honor and probably a couple others are severely deathcore. Also, what do you even like Wretched for? Some of the most retarded composers I've heard in my life. Their songs make zero sense and have no point to them whatsoever. I'm not trying to attack you, I just can't wrap my head around why you'd choose them when there's other bands that write the same type of music but actually understand why songs are written in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I listen to Whitechapel (like all the other 'cores, it's catchy as fuck). I totally agree that deathcore's a monotonous genre, though, so if you're gonna listen what's the point in spending your time on more than one band?
ReplyDeleteGood news is, I've unconsciously been weening myself off it; since discovering Cryptopsy, Suffocation, and Solstice (in the last week or so) I've been listening to pretty much nothing but death metal.
Also, everything I've ever heard by bring me the horizon sounds like screamo (not even heavy enough to be 'core) but I've seen/heard them referred to as deathcore on various occasions. Why?
Let me come clean: I love crazy time changes and wild tapping/"math metal" solos. That's why I enjoy Meshuggah, Obscura, Necrophagist, etc. For someone who is far removed from "scenes" and doesn't really give a fuck what label a band is on (let's remember who puts out As I Lay Dying and Unearth's records), I don't really care much what the official genre label is, I just like it. And for most of the "deathcore" bands, I think they all just sound Atreyu got assraped by Cannibal Corpse. I just don't know where the line gets drawn between "Technical Death Metal" and "Deathcore". I assumed it was a factor of talented musicians, but I guess it's all determined by a breakdown and the tightness of pants.
ReplyDeleteAnd With Honor isn't deathcore, trust me on that. But surely Streetlight Manifesto is.
I love those deathcore/metalcore genres actually a lot. I love WBTBWB, SuSi, BMTH etc. And your article made me laugh :D One of the best ones so far - it's really cool. Kudos, dude :D Especially liked the reference to Amon Amarth and Nile in the end, because I love both of them, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteBut the best things here are the comments. I love how all those kids try to make themself not to look like a poseur :D
>I was afraid that maybe I listened to some "Deathcore"<
:D Don't we all stop listening to our favorite music until we see that some smart guy claims it as 'poseur music' ? Too awesome how influencable people can be just to (try to) fit in. And that's actually what this blog is about... in the very first moment.
BTW, check out 'Die apokalyptischen Reiter'. ;)
I used to be heavy into metalcore in high school. I also used to be into screamo (a la Hawthorne Heights) and before that it was nu-metal, and before that it was the backstreet boys.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I don't "like" metalcore (or any of those other things, except maybe BSB) anymore, it's just not what I want to listen to as I've gotten older.
I think as one becomes more acquainted with music as an art form and not just a means to sell a product by being as catchy as possible, one loses tolerance for sub-par music.
I'm not ashamed for listening to Whitechapel, I've just found myself more and more drawn to death metal; even before I found DM, my affinity for Whitechapel began to dwindle as time went on since the first time I heard them. But I still bump the breakdowns from time to time.
Quit being falses and go listen to some Demilich or something
ReplyDeleteSeeing as you hate spelling errors, I thought I should bring the fact to light that you named the JFAC bassist Brent Higgs, not Brent Riggs (which is his name). I know this because I'm super awesome and think Job For A Cowboy are actually a superb death metal band (Ruination is the only album fitting of that description. All their other stuff does somewhat blow, massively.)
ReplyDeleteInteresting comments.
ReplyDeleteI used to listen to Deathcore and Metalcore when i was like, I don't know... 15? I just wanted to know how was that genre, searching multiple bands. I've always been listening to Real Metal since my childhood. I just wanted to hear that "music" all the kids were so excited for. I became bored of it after 1 month... every Shitcore band is the same awful monotony.
Well. I hope it gets eradicated somehow.
To ApocaLips: Streetlight Manifesto isn't even Metal. They're Ska/Punk. Good band.
Max Medlow: Fixed. Congratulations on being granted the status of "super awesome" after finding one typo on one post of this blog a little more than nobody reads. As you can clearly see in the aforementioned violation post about Gauges, Riggs' name is spelled correctly. I already knew what his name was. Perhaps I got the names Hinds and Riggs confused in a brief, weakened moment when I was focusing on creating the content in the post that actually mattered. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I fucking love deathcore. Granted I am a 17 year old male who wears very tight jeans (don't knock them, they're so comfortable), but I consider myself knowledgable in death metal because I started where thi article is telling me to go. In like 8th and 9th grade I loved Nile and Amon Amarth and Mors Principium Est, I'v just moved on because that gets stale after a while. Out with the old in with the new.
ReplyDeleteI admit breakdowns happen in real metal bands within the article. Way to fail it.
ReplyDeleteThe Faceless, Beneath the Massacre, and Born of Osiris put their fingers on a fretboard??! Holy dog shit fuck. You just blew my mind. Everything that I have ever said ever is now completely null and void and worthless because Lee McKinney has put his left fingertip on a fucking guitar string. Congratulations on your astute observation. There's no breaking your impenetrable stance.
I guess I "haven't listened to metal at all" because I'm not a veteran long-time listener of "Beneath the Massacre". I'm sure I missed out on so much. Last but not least, Beneath the Massacre and The Faceless are technical death metal bands, not deathcore. This may be news to you, but just because a band is from North America and formed sometime after 2002, that doesn't automatically make them a deathcore band. So to put it best: do a tad more research before commenting on shit you don't know about.
Last time I got trolled with a dickspin link, I had to access the site through 56k dial-up. You might as well rickroll me. Yawn.
Also, like all the other clever high schoolers who posted a dickspin link, your comment's been removed. Next time you want to share a weak argument on the page, I suggest leaving it alone in your bookmarks.
ReplyDeleteCan we stop bashing each other? Listen to whatever the hell you like.
ReplyDeleteI think there are some alright deathcore bands out there, but most of them are just really bad, haha. I listen to the "goodcore" bands (As Blood Runs Black, Salt the Wound, Riffles at Recess, etc.) But a lot of the new shit that is coming out are just ripping off from the older bands and getting away with it, and most of them are christian bands... fuck that shit xD
ReplyDelete@Daniel You are one step away from "CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG"
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I couldn't agree more. Deathcore is pure shit. I can't wait till the trend dies.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that people like you exist that like real music and don't betray their true taste just because of crowd...
ReplyDeleteSeems ill-mannered to read and enjoy this post as much as I did and not say thank-you. So, thank you. I'm not as utterly down on deathcore as you are, but the post is wickedly entertaining and makes a significant number of (painfully) valid points.
ReplyDelete"Show me someone who thinks inhaled pig squealing sounds brutal, and I'll show an eligible candidate for a fist to the throat."
ReplyDeleteThis is my new favorite quote of all time. And I gotta agree with, well, everything you've said here.
ya the bands in the video gies all of deathcore a bad rap
ReplyDeletetrue metal can have break downs and guitar solos in it...
Since when did Porky Pig start singing Deathcore? I couldn't even make it halfway through that video, that crap is pathetic. True metal does not sound like dying livestock...
ReplyDeleteThis is the "metal" decadence, and is sad.
ReplyDeleteI hope they die.
ReplyDeletehaters gonna hate, stop watching porn and get a girl fucking metalheads
ReplyDeleteWho the hell but FAGGOT BITCHES WHO LISTEN TO LIMP BIZKIT say emo shit like "haters gonna hate"?
ReplyDeleteGet the fuck out of here and go back to your faggot nigger genres of fail.
Wow, this artocle is lulzwothy because I CAN NOT stand Chelsea Grin. Every thing they are or stand for sickens me to an extent that no other deathcore band has or probably ever will. They are the epitome of mediocrity. That being said, not all deathcore is like that. There are a few bands in this particular genre that I can enjoy without having to rip my ears off. As Blood Runs Black, for example. Also I love All Shall Perish because even though they are labeled as "deathcore", most of their songs say different.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this article , I will just mention a couple of thingies...
ReplyDeleteOne , I think breakdowns are very metal and add to the rage and brutality , for example Cndlemass since the early 90s used this technique of pause - Messiah calling the pit for some doom dancing - the next riff enters super slow - the place is demolished . Maybe Im mistaken and didnt understand what the hell is this breakdown.
Two , at the late 90s early 00s when the younger metalhead started listening to that new wave of death metal like Dying Fetus and Deeds Of Flesh , Misery Index and Cryptopsy and stuff , we were making fun of them for the hoodies and the hockey shirts and the buggy trousers , acting like true elitists . But the years have passed and some of that era bands have become real classics ( even if in my mind that will still be new death metal) . I'm not saying that deathcore will bring anything good , its all shit , but lets give it a couple more years to mature , before we watch it burn down on its own.
(sorry for the grammar and spelling mistakes , but greek is my native language)
I think that if your going to label things deathcore, or metalcore etc. Then YOUR the fucking poser. Just because you dont like something doesnt mean you have to bash it. I listen to Chelsea Grin, Oceano, whitechapel, Suicide Silence etc. But I also listen to Deicide, Vital Remains, Slayer, Behemoth etc. So shut the fuck up, and get a life you fucking snob. Just because someone writes a typo, you think your somewhat cooler, because you point it out? sounds like your the immature one, bitch. So before you bash something that YOU dont understand, go fuck yourself and die.
ReplyDeleteTo be able to clarify what is and isn't metal, shouldn't it first be considered what metal is? Metal is popular for its differentiation from other genres, its discordance to the popular belief of the time. As time has passed, and society has come to accept what was once shocking as normality, to again attract a crowd dubbed ‘metalheads,’ the genre has been forced into progression. We must not forget that Rock was once 'the music of the devil,' etc. This progression has resulted in genres like Hardcore, Death Metal, and Deathcore. One of the most prominent of differences between Death Metal and Deathcore would be the presence of breakdowns - who the fuck cares about appearances? Some may consider these instances as unmusical, however they are very emotive, and thus powerful which is synonymous with heavy. In saying that the heavier, extreme genres are not, in fact, metal contradicts everything that heavy metal music is about.
ReplyDeleteThank ye kindly,
Joseppi.
Deathcore is not heavier.
ReplyDeleteThank ye kindly,
Brenocide.
@ Brenocide.. Thats your opinion, but bashing other bands that have made it succesfully only makes you look like a fool and a jealous one at that. Hencce, you might not like Suicide Silence, but it looks as if they are making it mor in life than you are.
ReplyDeleteAnd its not "ear gauging" dumbass, Its called stretching. Dont bring body modification up like it only started because of deathcore, its been around for thousands of years, Im a body piercer and find that comment very fucking stupid, you sound like a 30 yr old, nothing who lives in his moms basement. Fuck off, sincerely Devin
ReplyDeletedude u must be zipped in your real life...obviously your peers dont let you voice yourself...great read nevertheless."to know is to own"-regards 17
ReplyDeleteI never bothered with this -core thing since I always listened to vastly superior metal like Death, Thrash and Doom. I once made the mistake of listening to Waking the Cadaver, but found it hilarious, rather than unbearable.
ReplyDeletefrom a purely music theory standpoint, breakdowns are interesting. Now don't get me wrong, I'm in no way defending deathcore, because I hate chugging breakdowns with a fiery passion that consumes my very soul, but as a musician, the most basic idea of a breakdown, which is just a tempo change, is interesting. One of my favorite songs of all time, A Swarm of Plagues by Naglfar, has a breakdown. it involves no idiotic pointless chugging, but it is a breakdown nonetheless. That is something I absolutely cannot stand about anything -core: they take a simple, interesting, cool musical technique like breakdowns, dumb it down WAY too far, and then drive it into the ground by including it on EVERY OTHER TRACK on their already shitty album. Don't get me started on their vocallists.... the whiney, prepubescent girls who think they are badasses because they scream like a bitch and sing like a chihuahua getting run over by a fucking lawnmower. wait, no. that is considerably more brutal than any -core band could ever dream of being. More like a chihuahua on helium that just got kicked in the testes. I could rant about this for several pages, but I really don't have the time or the patience right now, and I feel I've rather effectively made my point, so I won't.
ReplyDeleteI love deathcore, everyone here should suck on my dick.
ReplyDeleteSincerly, Black Veil Brides are shit and not metal.
Check us out on facebook faggots!
You trolled me! i nearly went and delted my All Shall Perish, Born of Osiris, With Honor, and Here Comes the Kraken Albums. then I realised, this is a joke post. You fucking love deathcore! dont you? Yeah.
ReplyDeleteWhy those pig noises, what the hell are they thinking? Sure some guys growl like a bear or roar like a mountain lion but those are cool sounding animal noises. Maybe you should wait until you've got some hair on your balls before you start to put together a metal band. Now I like the swagger of an awesome solo but I also like the great grooves of a well put together and interesting breakdown. When it comes to breakdowns I like extreme metal, djent metal, technical death metal and math metal and sludge/doom metal. And when a solo accompanies a good breakdown than that's just awesome. An amazing example of this is Pantera's Domination near the end of the song, just epic.
ReplyDeleteI agree for the most part, but I think that you shouldn't include Chelsea Grin or Suicide Silence just because they really set off the trend. Chelsea Grin and Suicide Silence are not bad bands, they just started a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteNothing like recommending weak, shitty melo-garbage like Amon Amarth as a cure to deathcore. Simply glorious!
ReplyDeleteAmon Amarth are metal as fuck, sir.
Deletedheim
I'm curious what you think of Whitechapel's New Era Of Corruption record, or bands like The Red Chord. New Era is a hell of an album, especially for deathcore: No pig squeals and a hell of a lot of melody. The Red Chord meld hardcore and death metal without just playing breakdowns.
ReplyDeleteI think you're wrong to generalize a genre like this. There's a lot of shit present in it but there are redeeming bands.
The fact is,and this is a fact not opinion, that death metal is better then death core period.I'll leave it at that because I dont want to get in to details why it's better and get all the death core fans panties in a tangle, nor do I care to argue the point with a bunch of teenage girls and boys who think they know a thing or two about death metal and what brutality is and the fact that they just started listening to this genre a couple weeks, months or years ago.Nothing will compare to the creativity and originality of the old death metal bands, when it was actually under ground and esoteric, not this trendy shit called death core today which is dull unoriginal and meaning less, and some thing my kid sister could be into, what a fucking joke!
ReplyDeletePretty sure the "shriekery" was black metal's.
ReplyDeleteEAT PIGS DON"T BE PIGS.
MJ^ you don't find old metal to be CLEARLY laking on the Percussion side? Very primitive style, my eight year old sister can play them.
dheim
ReplyDeletein early 90s i thought that the gore/carcass mockery trend in band names (things like "Putrescent Eviscerated Rotting Cadaver" and such) was a bit ridiculous unless blatantly ironic, but now i'm simply astonished by the lack of taste and sense in band monickers... and those band pictures... bands like Entombed could have been 16 back in the glory days, but they AT LEAST tried to look like badass motherfuckers, not like retard schoolboys!
thanks to the gods i'm old enough not to have to cope with the shit that today's kids revere as the "new"...
i'm not even commenting about the so-called MUSIC, because in that collection of chugs and pig squealings i didn't hear none.
Hello, good sir. I have stumbled upon your little blog and I have to say I am very pleased with what I see. I'm about 14 and I'm not a metal head as yourself but my facebook news feed makes me sick. Seeing girlies posting statuses about how Black Veil Brides (don't look them up, they're horrible) being a poser 'screamo' band while they listen to shit like Chelsea Grin and boast about their 'superior' music taste which includes mallcore bands such as Alesana, Asking Alexandria and blah blah blah.
ReplyDeleteThe shit scene kids listen to is pop rock with a some screaming in it. THIS is what people my age listen to. You're fine because you're an adult. I have to sit in my fucking classroom and listen to these teenybopping scene gurrrrlz talk about their favourite Asking Alexandria song and how much they love screamo. IT ISN'T FUCKING SCREAMO MY GOD.
That wasn't supposed to be a rant.
Sorry.
Bye.
Kind of makes me want to make a fake deathcore/metalcore band just to piss off the brats. Let me see, how much should I mention of the terrors of being middle class? Or the tragedy of a girlfriend leaving because of being too whiny and clingy.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I'd have to be careful I don't LOOK like a real 'core band. I have to let people know I'm just parodying. What do you think of the name Bath Salt Zombies as a band name for this monstrosity, since I want to keep up with current events.
I agree, Deathcore is not metal. It's too hard, heavy, and fast to be metal. In the 80's all of your elders said Heavy Metal was not rock nor even music for that matter, but it made its way and it is here forever. Just the same as Deathcore. It honestly seems that you are a little bit sad about the current generation not keeping their ties to Heavy Metal. But we all started somewhere right? It's progression of music and there is always going to be one guy who wants to bitch on his own website. I am a well educated, employed musician who listens to all genres including folk and ragtime. I fucking love music as long as it is written and played well no matter the genre or the artist. Deathcore is here to stay. Deal with it.
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/hhvC5ltN9Do
ReplyDeleteI Listen to deathcore and am currently writing songs for my deathcore band in my room
ReplyDeleteThe video you posted was the most boring piece of shit ever, and i love Deathcore, so well done on the bad examples (Y)
Deathcore Never claimed to be metal, it claimed to be deathcore, it takes an influence from death metal and metalcore (not hardcore). its the same way classic metal bands took influence from rock music.
Deathcore is simply just another progression. AlsoBMTH and SS are atrocious, ill admit i used to listen to them but they are just bad for the genre as ive grown older, So boring.
For better bands try stuff like
Born of osiris (the discovery album)
All shall perish (awaken the dreams and This is where it ends)
Chelsea grin (Evolve EP)
Betraying the martyrs (Breath in life)
Aversions crown (Servitude)
Make them suffer (Neverbloom)
Or whitechapel (This is exile or their new album, cant think of the name)
Anything that ends with "core" fucking blows. Dosnt fucking matter what you put in front of it. If core is in there its going to suck dick. Listen to real music you whiney emo fags.
ReplyDeleteYou're so damn right...
ReplyDeleteAnd yes... my Screen get hit after I was punished by some images...
I don't checked out the noise.. because I need by amps still alive for some true Metal
"I Listen to deathcore and am currently writing songs for my deathcore band in my room"
And I am reading this to chuck up into a dirt bucket
Man I will give you a chelsea grin that you won't stay on stage anymore
Comparing Behemoth and Belphegor and God Dethroned and Antestor and Extol to White Chapel and Suicide Silence, these guys generate pure bonafied gore and deathcore is just core. I really cannot stand core. Even Sirenia can put up more gore (at least in their early days) than White Chapel and Suicide Silence combined.
ReplyDeleteThis is stupid. I've seen, and read a lot of things about why Deathcore isn't real music as a genre, but it's all dumb basis opinions. Who are you, or anyone to say what real music is? There is no such thing as real, or fake music. You're not God to judge what is what, no one is.I listen to deathcore and I don't see it as being lazy. How is there no talent in this genre of music? Everytime that I see one of these ignorant post all I see is a bunch of Oliver Sykes, Bring me the Horizon, Whitechapel bullshit. There are so many grimmy and crazy bands out there that don't get recognition at all. Music evolves so what. There has been posers out there since the beginning of time, but don't ruin it for the people who are hardcore deathcore listeners. If, "Core," is bad then what about Agoraphobic Nosebleed? They're one of the best Grindcore bands I know.As long as you put your heart and soul in MUSIC in general then you are a musician. Not everyone that listens to things that have core in them are Emo Fags. Homosexuality has nothing to do with it. It shows how inconsiderate and disgusting people are. Music calms the spirit and cleanses the soul. If you listen to whatever and people don't agree there's nothing wrong with you, there's just something wrong with people for judging. Deathcore is brutal, look up some shit and get your face melted. Come to one of my shows and see that it's NOT full of,"Fags," and Emo's.
ReplyDelete^My name is Stephen By the way and I'm a lead vocalist is a band and I major is poetry.
ReplyDeleteOnce when I was young, my friends dragged me to a local hardcore show in my hometown. I reluctantly went, and I hated it because I was accustomed to death metal. But the reason I'm saying this is because when the show finished; me and my friends were leaving, and outside I saw some scene kids pushing around this little scene girl who looked very young. They were screaming how much more "scene" they were than her, and how she didn't deserve to be part of the "scene" and they actually started to hit her and make her cry. The fact that these kids were bragging about how "scene" they were really pissed me off, so being much larger and older than them I confronted the tools and put an end to it, and they were ALL COWARDS. And it is because of what I saw in those people that I now hate all things hardcore. Where as at the usual shows I go to with death metal bands like Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Enslaved, Opeth etc. I have never met a douche bag (besides the occasional obliterated hammered guy). At death metal shows I feel safe, I know that if i fall in the pit, my fellow metal heads will stop and pick me up. At deathcore shows, the fight dancers just don't care; I've seen my friend get scissor kicked in the head, then pushed out of the way so that the very guy that kicked him could get back in the pit. I have always been more of the pure metal fan among my friends, I never really stray too far from death metal and when I do its melo-death and folk metal. Which leads me to this: 4 or 5 years after the scene kid incident, the summer slaughter tour came around to my town, and I went to see Ensiferum, Suffocation, Decrepit Birth, Dying Fetus, Necrophagist and Blackguard. Unfortunately also playing at this show was Winds of Plague, Origin, Beneath the Massacre, Born of Osiris and After the Burial. At the show, I saw those same stupid scene kids, only this time some of them were normal looking, wearing real death metal tee's, but the others still had the same shitty scene look with fluorescent beneath the massacre shirts and all. Once we were in the smoking area, some of them recognized me and came to talk to me, and I kid you not the ones who wore the death metal shirts were cool, laughing about the whole thing and the stupid scene kids still hated me and bitched at me. But more importantly the girl they were teasing was there, had she not told me who she was I would have never recognized her. And the thing is I had also seen this girl at metal shows before the summer slaughter tour; it blew my mind, and she thanked me, and she told me she hated hardcore and deathcore, and that incident really helped her realize that hardcore kids are douche bags just like it made me realize it. It just goes to show that Hardcore and Deathcore is just a phaze, and once these children grow up, they will realize that.
ReplyDeleteYou, my dear, are a moron. Deathcore is as metal as any other form of heavy music.
ReplyDeleteI have seen douchebags in metal shows, they are everywhere and that's because stupidity is human.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I listen metal since late 80's and I do enjoy deathcore and even electronicore, but I am not a metalhead, I hate metal scene, I still listen to black/death/thrash/etc but I can't stand the stupidity of some people saying this or that is not metal, when what you are hearing is metal, no doubt, and the reason they say is not metal is because they look like fags or whatever, you can foolish dumb people, but you CAN'T fool your ears.
Stephen, did you just say you majored in Poetry?
ReplyDeleteWow, I completely agree with you, I was just on a Escape the Fate video on youtube and people were saying that them and Suicide Silence was metal, I don't even know how people that enjoy Escape the Fate can enjoy Suicide Silence, they are completely different in so many ways.I know neither of them are metal but I don't get how Suicide Silence relates to metalcore and post-hardcore fans. Anyways I just wanted to see if Deathcore was a sub-genre of Metal like they said but they're more of just a combination of Hardcore and Death Metal, not like metal at all and it's an insult to the entire Metal genre to consider Deathcore metal.
