New Black Dahlia Murder Music You Probably Won't Like

Here's why most metal elitists don't like Michigan Death Metal band, The Black Dahlia Murder:
  • They're from America. That's usually it...
  • They formed in 2001.
  • They have members with tattoos, short hair, and gauges.
  • They have kind of a frilly sounding, sentence-long name.
  • "Because they're deathcore man. This is deathcore. Nope, deathcore, they're deathcore, yeah that's deathcore. Yup."
Here's why you should like The Black Dahlia Murder:

They're actually pretty awesome, and so is their brand new track "Moonlight Equilibrium" off their equally brand new album, "Ritual". An album that I will be very eager to steal buy upon it's June 21st release.

In case you aren't on the up and up with your true metal statuses, and want to bitch about The Black Dahlia Murder being anything but a death metal band; TNM readers voted, and granted TBDM a pass through the gates of bona fide death metal on my blog several months ago. Then again, this was back when my blog only had like 300 viewers a night, but that's not really my problem. Either way, this album completely took me by surprise. I didn't hear about any plans to record a new album from TBDM, although it has been a little while since Deflorate, and judging from their studio discography, there's a consistent 2 years between releases. Sounds promising to say the least, and you should look forward to a full review when it comes out later next month.

If you're not too busy crossing your arms and scowling in your battle jacket to care, that is.

  1. You know, I really dig TBDM, but I find them forgetable after a few listens.

  2. The Black Dahlia Murder has always been a melodic death metal band

  3. They may be death metal, but they still suck. Pretty much like Children of bodom or In flames

  4. They're from America. That's usually it

What about Death and Possessed don't these people realise we wouldn't have death metal without america, also influences on death metal like Slayer

  5. I think that some deathcore bands are getting more mature and suck less than they did in the past. Looks like that they are Deathmetalizing themselves lol. IMHO Whitechapel and Annotations of an Autopsy released pretty cool albums.

  6. TBDM are NOT the road to true metal redemption.

  7. Yeah, you know, I've never understood the hatred for BDM. They're pretty rad melodic death metal. And good for them, too. They don't have an ounce of "core" in them at all, and people who hate on them are stupid.

Though, I concede that they're basically a blasty At The Gates.

They have a page on Encyclopaedia Metallum, which proves they are metal, but...

    Can't really like those vocals.
But that grants the scene emo kids at my school one less punch for listening to something not so unmetal...

  10. I was pretty impressed by their album Nocturnal. granted these aren't the usual death metal vocals, hell, they're damn good.

  11. They'd be ok Gothenburg-wannabes if they ditched the shitty vocalist.

  12. You forgot one reason to like them: George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher digs them. That's right, the man whose pubic lice are more metal than most of the readers of this blog, myself included, likes BDM.

Brenocide, you're not the only metal elitist to like TBDM. They're fucking sick! Can't wait for the new album.

  14. They're death metal now - sure. But they're sub standard boring death metal with those retarded dipping rhythm guitars and vocals - Which just sounds shit.
They're work is dull and does not stand out from the thousands of other death metal bands, and nowhere near as talented as most.
They got a free ride by being shit - They're trying to make up for it but I'm not having it - They're shit.

  15. The reaction I got when I saw this so unexpectedly was the same as Mike Mangini's on the blog before, hnngg.

Call them whatever you want, I've been a fan of TBDM ever since Miasma

  16. They're good if you like bad Slaughter of the Soul era At the Gates clones.

  17. Eh. I can't stand those vocals. To me, they seem just like another mediocre band that wants to be cool so they throw a bunch of Satanic imagery in their music. I wouldn't mind seeing them live, or even listening to them, but when it comes to buying a CD... no thanks.

  18. I knew you you're self were a poseur when i saw this page, and now i see this bullshit about this lame ass band. Good to know theres people advocating "pretty awesome metal" like this.

  19. Wow, I never considered that "I I are self" were such a poseur. Thanks for the input, Speaker. How's your blog going? Looks like you picked a random black and white template and started writing how much people eating meat makes your butt hurt so bad. You'll be the next fucking Metal Sucks in no time with writing skills such as yours. I'll also have you know that thinking of the cow's retarded fucking face before it got impaled with a hydraulic spike, makes me way more hungry than just thinking about steak on it's own. Sorry, but a guy who get's a boner about animal feelings has no right to talk to me about being metal. Go listen to Aerosmith and think you know what you're talking about.

  20. You know, It's funny because Nobody would be arguing about the metal status of TBDM if they formed in the 90's and were from some Scandinavian country...

  21. Who gives a fuck where they are from and what they look like. They play awesome metal. waaaaah

  22. I ONLY CAME HERE TO BASH ANYONE THAT WAS SHIT TALKING TBDM, AND SET EM STRAIGHT. Then the article turned out to be badass. THIS BAND, FUCK THE GENRE OR LABELS IS WHAT I LOVE METAL FOR, ITS RAW, ITS CAPTIVATING, ITS COMPELLING, ITS ELABORATE, AND ITS HEAVY AS FUCK. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, YOU CAN SUCK A COCK.
